Stephen (Steve) F. Lazar, AIA Architect, LEED AP
President, VRL Architects, Inc

At the age of fourteen, Steve walked into an architect’s office in his home town of St. Petersburg and asked the Owner for a job. The architect’s abrupt response was his first major rejection but, in retrospect, helped prepare Steve for the real world. Looking back over a successful professional career, this Florida Native can be proud of his accomplishments in the public and private sector. Steve takes vicarious pleasure in seeing Libraries, churches, schools and civic projects used by their occupants for their intended purpose. That is the satisfaction derived from the design profession. Steve enjoys interacting with clients and users and readily communicates with his pen-using sketching as the language of architecture. The process of creative problem solving always brings this architect great joy.

Richard M. (Mark) Veenstra
Senior Job Captain

Mark has been with VRL Architects for 15 years and has developed strong experience in production documents and consultant coordination. As VRL increased its involvement with computers, Mark has endeavored to improve his IT knowledge and has become the default inhouse go-to-guy. Mark has an impressive work ethic which he inherited from his father, the late Dick Veenstra, one of the founders of this firm. The VRL Team and our engineering consultants have confidence that project deadlines will be met with Mark’s steadfast commitment. Mark also has the same commitment as a granddad.

Shwana (“Shay”) V. Torrance

For 15 years Shay has been a significant part of our CADD production team. Shay is consistent, dependable and an enjoyable member of our team.

Shay is also a thoughtful and patient instructor and has taught Kim and Steve many computer lessons. Who said something about “old dogs and new tricks”?

s-beverly

Beverly Sharp

“Specs and Checks” describes this hard working multi-tasker. Beverly came to VRL Architects during a transition period. VRL had just begun a major accounting system change over and this courageous lady slipped seamlessly into the duty of office and account manager and kept the ship on course. Beverly has also learned the specifications system used for Project Bid Documents. Sometimes it seems that Beverly has more arms and hands that other normal humans in order to accomplish the tasks at hand.

ronnieRonnie Fulgham

A graduate of Mississippi State College of Industrial Engineering this Bulldog is inexplicably Loyal to the Ole Miss Rebels and yet cheers vigorously for the Mighty Gators. We don’t try to understand.

We just enjoy his teamwork spirit and his solid work ethic.
